I have completely screwed up MySQL on my Ubuntu 14 server

I recently got a virtual server and I set up apache2, PHP, and MySQL. Since the very beginning I have been having problems with MySQL that nobody else online seemed to be having. I was trying to fix it and earlier today I absolutely screwed it all up. This:

# service mysql status

Outputs:

mysql stop/waiting

And this:

# service mysql status

Outputs:

start: Job failed to start

I am looking to completely uninstall everything (mysql) and start new. I mean EVERYTHING (mysql) because I have looked through just about every forum I can find and everything I've tried hasn't worked.

Please help me out :/
